Hi my name is Chris Pequin. I’ve agreed to let my name stand as a potential candidate for the riding of South Okanagan West Kootenay.
For years I have helped numerous other candidates run for election in various positions and ridings across the country. My first experience was going door to door in Winnipeg handing out videos of Preston Manning’s vision for the country under the banner of the Reform Party. All the way up to serving on my local Conservative Party board, and being a voting member at policy conventions. It has been my pleasure to serve.
A number of times along the way I was asked if I would consider running for office myself. My major was political science and I love meeting and serving people. At first I considered myself too young. I wasn’t a fan of most career politicians and wanted to get some “real life” experience. Then I became a father and as my family grew, so did the time necessary to ensure that all five of my children got off on the right foot. In the back of my mind I also thought that for the most part our country was in fairly good shape, and in pretty capable hands.
That has all changed over the past few years. Excessive debt, division, attacks on our personal freedoms, censorship, inflation and now rising interest rates have all confirmed that our country is no longer in good and capable hands, and that it was time to take my 30 years of “real life” experience in business, leadership development, and humanitarian initiatives and put them to work for our great nation.
My kids are pretty much grown up, my wife has given me the green light, and perhaps I’ve been preparing for such a time as this.
It is my intention to first win the nomination for the Conservative Party in our riding, and then become the South Okanagan West Kootenay’s next Member of Parliament.
